Trinity Vineyard Sunday Morning
An Invitation to Pray
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.”
- Matthew 6:5-15
We were created for connection—not just with our favourite people, but with our Creator. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been exploring the Lord’s Prayer and what it means to accept God’s daily invitation to connect with Him.
Jesus teaches us that prayer isn’t a performance or a list of fancy words. It’s a living relationship. Like exercise, building a prayer habit can feel tough, but it is vital for our spiritual health. Through the Lord's Prayer, God invites us to step out of the driver's seat, trust His daily provision, receive His deep forgiveness, and rest in His protection.
How can we practically build this habit?
Habit Stacking: Attach a moment of prayer to an existing routine, like brushing your teeth or boiling the kettle.
Tangible Prompts: Carry a small holding cross in your pocket or set a daily phone reminder.
Keep it Simple: Don't perform. If you are struggling, simply tell Him: "God, I find this really hard."
Whether you are exploring silent contemplation or just starting out, remember: the goal is connection, not perfection. Let’s journey together to become a community drenched in prayer!
