Apostles Creed - Suffered, Crucified, Dead, Buried
Being God’s chosen King is not linked to exercising authority for self interest or for the accumulation of wealth and military power. It wasn’t a human display of kingship.
Being God’s chosen King means that Jesus suffered, was crucified, died and was buried. And that model of ruling has huge ramifications for all of us who desire to be shaped by the story of Jesus.
The invitation to you and me is to follow Jesus’ example, to absorb a measure of suffering out of our communities, to fill up in our flesh suffering for Christ’s body the church, as Paul says in his letter to the Colossians.
